Samsung Highlights is a mobile app for Samsung smartphones that displays curated, high-quality, short-form video content on the user’s lock screen based on their interests.
I was brought onto the project to help rapidly expand the app’s content library in the lead-up to its public beta. My role combined curation, editing, and audio production, with a focus on delivering high-quality, platform-ready content at scale.
A significant portion of this work involved sourcing footage through a partnership with Filmsupply, then transforming it into engaging, fully realized vertical videos optimized for mobile viewing.

Process Breakdown (Example Edit)
To illustrate my workflow, below is a breakdown of one video from initial asset to final delivery.
OBJECTIVE
The team needed additional sports content that met strict technical specifications and content guidelines.
To diversify existing material, I focused on action sports footage from Filmsupply. After reviewing hundreds of clips, I selected a small set with strong visual potential and adaptability for vertical framing.

FRAMING
The original footage was delivered in 8K landscape format, while the app required sub-4K resolution in a 9:16 aspect ratio.
I reframed the footage using a zoom crop and built dynamic motion into the edit using keyframes. Rather than statically cropping, I tracked the subject’s movement to keep the action centered and enhance the sense of motion—resulting in a more immersive and intentional viewing experience.

COLORING
Working from RAW footage, I corrected and graded the image using Lumetri tools to achieve a polished, high-contrast look that aligned with the app’s visual standards and displayed consistently across Samsung devices.

Because source footage did not include audio, I built the soundscape from scratch.
Designed diegetic sound effects to match on-screen movement
Layered and processed audio to reflect distance and motion
Created a minimal electronic soundtrack to enhance pacing without overpowering the visuals
The final mix balanced realism and energy, helping ground the viewer while reinforcing the intensity of the footage.

DELIVERY
Final assets were exported in both high-quality archival and app-optimized formats, tagged with metadata, and uploaded to the content management system for integration and testing.
This workflow was repeated at scale, with a production pace of 10–30 videos per day.
RESULT
The final videos were successfully integrated into the Highlights platform and met all technical and creative requirements.
The team was highly satisfied with the work, and I maintained a consistent 5-star rating throughout the project.
